Teaching Philosophy
Learning occurs in all stages of life. Learning starts as soon as a child exits the womb and continues through the late stages of life. The level of learning depends greatly upon the teacher.
Learning occurs when an individual (student) is able to take what has been learned and apply it to a real world situation. Every child can learn, but it is the responsibility of the teacher to accommodate all learners. As an Early Childhood Education teacher, it is my job to provide a safe, learning, meaningful, learning environment for my students. I believe that students should be allowed to make choices to show them that they are valued. I am able to assist in the educational process because I am a dedicated, resourceful teacher eager to lead teachers in learning the curriculum, using assessment data to drive instruction, and preparing high quality lesson plans, with a passion for education and a commitment to improving student and school success. Dedicated, resourceful, and goal-driven professional, with a solid commitment to academic achievement of every student. I have a proven ability to be flexible assuring that each child’s learning needs and academic needs are met and to provide individual and extra-curricular support for students with different learning needs. I have developed superior relationship and communication skills to form meaningful relationships amongst students, staff, parents and stakeholders. Along with the above, I am an enthusiastic, creative, and passionate educator, who believes that all children can learn and thrive in a learning environment that is stimulating, comforting and appropriate to their unique talents and abilities.
My specializations include: General Education for students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through fifth in all subject areas, Reading, English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. I exhibit instructional Leadership by use of a balanced blend of motivational and targeted instruction methods to enhance curriculum, focus on the three ‘R’s - rigor, relevancy and relationships. Within my classroom and educational journey, I engage parents by working closely with them throughout their child's career, and repeated successes securing a high level of parental involvement. Lastly, I utilize a visionary approach with consistency to help students past the threshold of not-knowing to knowing and develop to their fullest extent.
My lessons currently incorporate technology to introduce and reinforce each skill or concept. All information is included in lesson plans. All skills and concepts are introduced as a whole group, but reinforced within small groups.
