Let's Collaborate!
Vyclone is an iOS and Android app that allows users to capture video socially and edit, sync, and share videos amongst a small group easily. This is a very cool app that can make it possible to have students shoot video at a school trip, event, or an particularly exciting class session and then share the compiled video project as an edited together piece. Great for capturing the action from multiple angles and letting the app automagically choose what video footage to use at each points based on sound quality.

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Tookit
What is critical thinking?
Critical thinking is putting together facts and assessing information to arrive at a logical, comprehensive conclusion.
Edmodo
https://www.edmodo.com/
Edmodo is a free app for teachers and students that promotes collaboration while fostering critical thinking and problem solving. Students are allowed to be creative and express themselves digitally. It is a community based website that allows parents, students and teachers to collaborate. With this app, teachers may create groups, assign homework, schedule quizzes, manage progress and reinforces and enhances what's going on in the class-----and remain secure because of the built-in safety feature.
Testimonial directly from the website------Representative from Chesterfield County Public Schools
"Not going with a traditional LMS turned out to be a great decision, not just from a fiscal standpoint, but also in terms of teacher satisfaction and usage. If we purchased a more traditional LMS, a large percentage of our teachers may never have used it, or at least not to its capacity, without extensive training. - Dr. Adam Seldow, CCPS Executive Director of Technology."
Within my personal classroom, this would be a great way to collaborate with parents and keep them updated digitally on their students assignments and progress in all subject areas.
Wordle
http://www.wordle.net/
Wordle is a website that allows individuals to generate a word cloud from information from the user. More frequent words appear larger in the cloud. This app allows the user to change the colors, layouts and fonts.
Unfortunately, when Wordle was created, the Google App Engine platform did not provide a way for developers to add search capabilities to their websites. They have since added that capability, but the feature hasn't been added.
Within my personal classroom, this app would be a great way for me to increase my student's vocabulary! In Science, I'd assign a reading. Students would have to write down any unfamiliar words and submit as a homework assignment. I'll compile a list of all unfamiliar words and insert into Wordle. As a whole group, we'd study the cloud of words to identify the words that are most unfamiliar. After which, I'd provide the correct definition for each word while engaging in a rich classroom discussion.

Note App
https://noteapp.com/
Note App is a simple, free application that promotes critical thinking. It is often used within problem-based learning programs/classrooms. Students use this application for brainstorming ideas. It's simple enough to organize thoughts while collaborating with people within the classroom, school and across the globe. There is a built-in chat feature and it also allows individuals to share files with community members. It's "drag-and-drop" feature makes it easy to move notes around and view others notes and thoughts.
Within my classroom, I can use this application when we are doing a group writing assignments. I can list the student's names on each sticky note to track their thoughts. Students will be able to access their group's thoughts to complete their assignment!
Ted Ed
http://ed.ted.com/
Ted Ed allows students and teachers can create videos and animations using educational content. This site has videos and lessons to supplement most academic subjects. One downside to this is that it takes a while to find lessons and most of the content is appropriate for middle and high school students. The material isn't totally aligned with the new Common Core Standards, which most states across the nation are using. Although time consuming, the lessons are worthwhile. Students enjoy the lessons and become highly engaged!
Within my classroom, I can use this in most subject areas to create engaging lessons for students. Within the lesson, I'm able to include a YouTube video for reference to aid in completion of assignments and studying!
Jumpstart

With Solve a Problem, students are able to think deeply about the issues that most affect them. After they analyze these issues using problem solving skills, they must develop solutions. This app allows students to work alone or within a group, which promotes collaboration! Promoting critical thinking and problem solving at a young age increases their ability to perform these tasks at the middle and high school level. While there are a lot of free educational apps, Jumpstart requires a membership along with payment. Jumpstart's website is very kid friendly and easy to navigate. The lessons are separated by grade, subject and skill, thus making it easy for parents to navigate as well!
